Amity School of Distance Learning starts its new session with 19th Biannual Meet

In today's recession stricken corporate world, "competitiveness" has become the only key to survival. In such a cut throat scenario, distance education has acquired immense importance for professionals, juggling between competing and demanding priorities. This fact is testified by the humungous enrollment of students in the new academic session of Amity School of Distance Learning, which held its "19th Bi- annual Meet" at Amity Campus, Sector-44, Noida.

Heartily welcoming the new entrants, Maj. Gen. (Dr.) Surendar Kumar- Sr. Vice President RBEF and Chairman, Amity School of Distance Learning (ASODL) outlined the changing perception of people about Distance Learning programmes, which are no more considered a poor cousin of regular education. He commended the decision taken by the entrants and congratulated them on their ability to incessantly learn and grow in their lives. "True caliber people are judged by their ability to hone their competency while working", averred Dr. Kumar. Quoting beautiful lines from revered "Vedas", he advised that one should have trust in his/her capabilities and potential ("Aham Brahmasmi"); should analyze his/her strengths and weaknesses, cashing in on the strengths and working on the weaknesses(" Atmaram- Vidhi") and be committed to do well in his/her life (Shraddha- Vidya).

Mr. Abhinash Kumar- Dy. Director, Amity School of Distance Learning (ASODL) apprised the students with the conduct of ASODL- dwelling on the aims and objectives of distance learning programmes; upcoming programmes of ASODL like B.Ed and Bachelor of Social Work; Corporate tie- ups with companies such as Steria (India) Ltd., American Express, FCI and evaluation system followed at ASODL.

Mr. Harish Kumar- Dy. Director (Academics); Mr. Alok Awtans- Asst. Director and Ms. Sunita Goel briefed students about the important points to be kept in mind during the admission process, submission and evaluation of assignments, teaching methodology, course curriculum and project guidelines

Maj. Gen. Ashok Krishna- Director, Amity Institute of Competitive Intelligence presented his views on "Role of Competitive Intelligence and Corporate Warfare in today's Business Environment"

One of the entrants, Mr. Jaiprakash Verma -Asst. Manager, Reliance Capital Limited when interacted with during the meet, expressed that having a background of M.Sc- IT and working for several financial firms, he thinks an MBA degree with a specialization in operations will definitely ease his journey to the managerial rung in the corporate world.

Another entrant, Ms. Payal Nandi working as CS Executive with I –Energizer, Noida has enrolled herself in MBA- 3 years. When asked about the reason behind her decision to pursue MBA through distance learning mode, stressed that it is very important to be pro-active and keep on learning and upgrading oneself according to the requirements of the industry. Augmenting qualification while working has no match and industry acknowledges such person as very talented and real professional.
