University of Wisconsin-Madison launches Khoran Scholarships for Indian students

New Delhi: A partnership has been signed among the University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW), the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India (GOI) and Indo-US-Science and Technology Forum (IUSSTF) to launch a scholarship programme for Indian students.

This scholarship has been named in honour of Dr. Har Gobind Khorana, who won the Nobel Prize in 1968 for his work at the interface of Chemistry and Biology while a member of the UW faculty.

The scholarship will provide an opportunity to Indian students to undertake research at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW) in summer 2009 for a period of 10 weeks.

Students enrolled in B.Tech, M.Tech and M.Sc courses in recognized institutions of higher education in India in the areas of Biotechnology including agricultural, health and biomedical sciences are eligible for the scholarships.
