TANUVAS – BVSc.& AH, BFSc. And B.Tech. Admissions 2009

Tamil Nadu Veterinary And Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS), Chennai invites applications from the candidates of Tamil Nadu for admission to the following Undergraduate Degree Courses of the Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University for the academic year 2009-2010.

B.V.Sc. & A.H.
(5 Years) at
(i) Madras Veterinary College, Chennai - 600 007
(ii) Veterinary College & Research Institute, Namakkal - 637 002.

B.F.Sc.
(4 Years) at
Fisheries College & Research Institute, Thoothukudi - 628 008.

B.Tech. (Food Processing Technology)
(4 years)
Institute of Food and Dairy Technology, Koduvalli, Chennai - 600 052.


I. ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION

1. Qualifying Examination and Minimum Marks

Candidates who are applying for B.V.Sc. & A.H./B.F.Sc./ B.Tech. (Food Processing
Technology) degree course should have passed HSC (10+2) / CBSE / other examinations recognized as equivalent thereto with the marks as prescribed below:

(a) ACADEMIC STREAM
For B.V.Sc. & A.H. / B.F.Sc. degree course:

1. Biology (or) Zoology and Botany – 60%
2. Chemistry and Physics taken together – 60%
Aggregate of (1) and (2) should not be less than 70%

For B.Tech.(Food Processing Technology) degree course:
1. Mathematics – 60%
2. Chemistry and Physics taken together – 60%
Aggregate of (1) and (2) should not be less than 70%

VOCATIONAL STREAM
For B.V.Sc. & A.H./B.F.Sc. degree course:

1. Biology – 60%
2. Vocational Subjects:
For B.V.Sc. & A.H. : Poultry/Dairying only
For B.F.Sc. : Fisheries only
(Theory, Practical I and Practical II taken together) – 60%
Aggregate of (1) and (2) should not be less than 70%

== Vocational stream candidates will be considered in B.V.Sc. & A.H. and B.F.Sc. degree courses only against the seats reserved for them.
== The maximum number of attempts made in passing the qualifying examination is limited to three for SC/ST candidates and two for others.
== The improvement marks in HSC Examination of any year will not be considered for admission.

2. Age Limit

Candidates should not have completed the age indicated below as on 01.07.2009.
Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe : No age limit
Others : 21 Years
No relaxation of age limit is permissible on any grounds.

II. MODE OF SELECTION

Candidates will be selected based on their performance in the HSC/equivalent examination as per the Government Orders.

III. APPLICATION FORMS

== Separate application form should be used for B.V.Sc. & A.H., B.F.Sc. and B.Tech. (Food Processing Technology) degree courses.

== Request letter for application forms should contain the name of the candidate and the course for which the application (B.V.Sc. & A.H. / B.F.Sc. / B.Tech. (Food Processing Technology)) is required.
Application form can be had in person or by post from any one of the following colleges on a written request along with a Demand Draft for Rs.500/- (Rupees five hundred only) (Rs. 250/- for SC/ST candidates) towards the cost of application form including registration, drawn in favour of "The Finance Officer, TANUVAS, Chennai- 600 051" payable at Chennai.

== Candidates who desire to have the application by post should send the written request to any one of the above colleges along with the demand draft and a self addressed stamped (Rs. 40/-) envelope (Size: 37.5 x 28 cm).
= To avail the concession on the cost of application forms, SC/ST candidates should write the name of the community in their written request.

== Demand draft dated prior to 04-05-2009 will not be accepted.
== Cash/Cheques/Money Orders/Postal Orders will not be accepted.
== Application forms will be issued on all working days from 04-05-2009 to 15-06-2009 as follows:

04-05-2009 to 14-06-2009 between 10.00 am. and 5.45 pm.
15-06-2009 between 10.00 am. and 1.00 pm.

== Application forms will be sent only by ordinary post and the University will not be responsible for non-receipt or any postal delay in receipt of application forms.
== Filled in applications should reach The Chairman, Admission Committee (UG), TANUVAS, Madhavaram Milk Colony, Chennai 600 051 on or before 15-06-2009, 5.45 p.m.
== Applications received after the due date and time will summarily be rejected and the University will not be responsible for any postal delay.

Provision for NRI admission in B.V.Sc. & A.H. and B.F.Sc. is also available from
this academic year.
