VC calls for support to develop Assam Agricultural University (AAU)

GUWAHATI, Aug 2 – Dr KM Bujarbaruah, the newly-appointed Vice-Chancellor of Assam Agricultural University (AAU), has appealed to the teachers, scientists, extension specialists, students and employees to extend their service and support for the growth and development of the university.

Dr Bujarbaruah, who was speaking at a programme on Saturday where he was felicitated, expressed confidence that the university would reach new heights in the coming days with concerted efforts on the part of all concerned.

Appealing to the teachers and scientists to change their mindset against the backdrop of the changes taking place on the educational front, Dr Bujarbaruah said that this was necessary for advancement of science and knowledge. He also stressed the need for disseminating scientific knowledge and innovation from the university to the grassroots farmers. He said that agriculture and allied sciences held a great deal of significance and they could be used as a potent tool for alleviation of poverty and unemployment.

Earlier, Dr RN Goswami, Dean, Faculty of Veterinary Science, accorded a felicitation to the Vice-Chancellor and delivered the welcome address. Dr BN Saikia, member, BOM, AAU, also spoke among others. ASSAM TRIBUNE
