Central Institute of Technology (CIT) students stage dharna

KOKRAJHAR, Sept 9: The students of Central Institute of Technology (CIT) situated at Balajan in Kokrajhar staged a dharna demanding explanation on issuing migration certificate to the outgoing students on Monday. Hundreds of students with placards shouted slogans like ‘Don’t play with our career, we want permanent Principal, we want fast growth of infrastructure in hand’ and gheraoed the Principal demanding written statement. The students demanded written statement on the issuing of migration certificate to the outgoing students who are now studying in various Engineering and Technical Institute, starting of B Tech course from the academic session among others. The outburst of the students’ community came after institute’s authority failed to provide migration certificate to the outgoing students. Sources in the institute said, over 25 students who are now studying in various institutions outside the State are under pressure to submit the migration certificate. The students blame the Principal for neglecting his duty at the cost of the life of hundreds of the students. The students said the Principal comes only once a week and stays in Guwahati. Sources in the institute said, because of absence of the Principal, most of the works remain unattended. The institute’s authority however said that, the procedure to obtain the migration certificate is on process. He also said that, the class for the B Tech is likely to start by the end of the month or October first. Established in 2006, the institute currently offers diploma courses in Electronics & Communication Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Food Processing Technology and Control and Instrumentation.
