NMIMS Management Aptitude Test- 2010 (NMAT-2010) [Narsee Monjee Management Aptitude Test]

Online Registration – Tuesday, 27th October 2009 to 6th December 2009

Online NMAT Dates – 30th January to 8th February 2010

Candidates will get admission if they meet the required standards of a two-stage selection process. All eligible candidates are required to appear for the computer based NMAT to be conducted across the country. Short listed candidates will have to appear for group discussion, a computer-based test and personal interview at selected centres.

The NMAT is valid for entry into the following programs:

MBA (Full Time)
MBA (Core)
MBA (Banking Management)
MBA (Capital Markets)
MBA (Actuarial Science)
MBA (Pharmaceuticals Management)
MBA (Part Time)
PhD Program in Management
EPGDBM

Eligibility Criteria:-

MBA-Core

Bachelor’s Degree (10+2+3) in any discipline from a recognized University with minimum 50% marks in the aggregate. Two years post qualification work experience will be preferred. Candidates appearing for the final year degree examination can also apply.


MBA Actuarial Science

Candidates should have attained any of the following Educational Standards with minimum 50% marks in the aggregate at the graduation/post graduation degree level examination.

Bachelor’s Degree (10+2+3) in Statistics / Mathematics / Engineering / Economics / Computer Science / Allied Sciences with minimum 50% marks in the aggregate. Two years post qualification work experience will be preferred.

Graduate or Post graduate with Mathematical subjects. For this purpose, the following constitute mathematical subjects :

1. Mathematics or any of its branches

2. Statistics or any of its sub classification such as Mathematical Statistics and Applied Statistics

3. Economics

4. Computer Science

5. Any discipline of Engineering

6. Physics or its allied branches

Candidate with graduation / post graduation from other disciplines should have passed 10+2 (HSC) or equivalent with at least 85% in Mathematics / Statistics.

Fully qualified members of the following professional bodies are also eligible.

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI)

The Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India (ICWAI)

MBA Banking Management and MBA Capital Market


Bachelor’s Degree (10+2+3) in any discipline from a recognized University with minimum 50% marks in the aggregate. Two years post qualification work experience will be preferred.


MBA Phamraceutical Management

Bachelor’s Degree (10+2+3) in Life Sciences/Pharmacy, Microbiology, bio-tech and bio-chemistry from a recognized University with minimum 50% marks in the aggregate. Post Graduates in Sociology / psychology / Economics/Anthropology are also eligible. Two years post qualification work experience will be preferred.

PhD Programme

1. Candidates with requisite qualifications may be drawn from any of the streams listed below:Master’s degree or equivalent in relevant disciplines such as humanities, social sciences, pure sciences and Commerce, from a recognized university/ deemed university/ institution recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

Post-graduate Diploma in Business Administration, considered equivalent to MBA by AIU.

2. Minimum marks required: 60% marks or equivalent CGPA at PG level.

3. Work Experience: At least 5 years full time work experience in executive or supervisory capacity after obtaining Master’s Degree.

4. Engineering students with 65% marks or equivalent CGPA at degree level with 5 years of work experience in Academic / Academic Institution / Research / Corporate.

Teaching Assistantship of Rs. 25000/- will be available to students for a period of 4 years. In addition, there would a waiver of the academic fee. Research grants of Rs. 10,000/- per annum for PhD Research will be made available.

Eligibility Criteria for Part Time MBA

Bachelor’s Degree (10+2+3) in any discipline from a recognized University or an equivalent educational pattern recognized by the UGC and AIU. Three years post qualification work experience in Supervisory / Executive Cadre as on 31st December 2009 is essential.

Eligibility Criteria for Full Time EPGDBM (Bangalore Campus)

Bachelor’s Degree (10+2+3) in any discipline from a recognized University OR Equivalent pattern recognized by the UGC & AIU with minimum 50% marks in the aggregate. Five years post qualification work experience in Supervisory/ Executive Cadre as on 31st December 2009 is essential.

The following criteria are common for all programmes

a) The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA in aggregate from any of the Universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established under section 3 of UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.

b) The Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification obtained by the candidate must entail a minimum of three years of education after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or its equivalent. The percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in the bachelor’s degree would be considered on the basis of the practice followed by the university/institution from where the candidate has obtained the degree.

c) In case the candidates are awarded grades/CGPA instead of marks, the equivalence would be based on the equivalence certified by the university / institution from where they have obtained bachelor’s degree.

d) Candidates appearing for the final year of bachelor’s degree / equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed the degree required and are awaiting results can also apply. Admission will be subject to their fulfilling the eligibility norms as mentioned above.


Eligibility Criteria for International candidates

Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from recognized University by the AIU with minimum 50% marks in aggregate or ‘B’ Grade / equivalent CGPA. Two years post qualification work experience will be preferred.

Candidates from countries, or Indians working in countries, other than listed test centres, need to have valid GMAT score of 650 and above.


Following documents to be produced at the time of Group Discussion/ Personal Interview (for short listed candidates only).


1. Statement of Purpose (SOP): Reason for applying to the proposed programme, study interests, future career plans etc.

2. Letter of Recommendation: Two testimonials are required. Recommendation letter should be from a faculty member/ Professional Associate /Referee at the last school you attended as a full time student or from work associates who can comment on your academic potential for graduate work.

3. English Proficiency: Adequate command of spoken and written English is required for admission. TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) scores are required of all applicants whose first language is not English.

4. Visas: Student has to maintain an appropriate visa status for their stay in the India.


Selection Process

All those who registered successfully will be called for the NMAT, provided they satisfy the conditions of eligibility. It is the sole responsibility of the candidate to ensure he/she is eligible as per the criteria. The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of the NMAT Score, Group Discussion, Personal Interview, Presentation (as applicable) and work experience. The selection will be based on merit. Decisions regarding the cut-off point for merit shall be at the sole discretion of the NMIMS. Such decisions will be final, indisputable and binding on all concerned.

(Note: 15% seats are reserved for Management Quota in each course out of the total intake)


How To Apply:

Registration Instructions

1) Click on Register for NMAT-2010 in the Quick links on the left side of your screen

Candidates within India – if you are testing within India

Candidates outside India – if you are testing outside India

2) A new window for filling the Online Application will open up on your screen.

3) Click on the New User Registration button on the left side of the screen.

4) Read through the Terms and Conditions and click on the I Agree button to accept the Terms and Conditions.

5) Fill in the details requested in the online application form related to your personal, educational and work experience details. Please do not forget to fill in the fields marked (*) as these are mandatory fields. For any clarification regarding what needs to be filled in each field, click on the How to Fill the Form link at the top.

6) In the order of preference, please select three combinations of the city and date on which you would like to appear for the NMAT-2010.

7) Under Test City details, choose 3 combinations of test location and date in the order of your preference.

8) Click on the Save and Continue button at the bottom of the page.

9) On the next screen, choose password, answer hint questions and click on the Submit button to register.

10) The next screen will display your unique NMAT-2010 ID.

11) You are required to pay the exam fee for successful completion of your registration. You may choose to make the payment now or return later to make the payment.

12) If you choose to make the payment now click on the Click here to make payment link that appears along with your NMAT-2010 ID and proceed to make the payment. The screen will now display the payment options.

13) Make Payment options screen will show payment options links on the top:

Payment at Axis – If you choose to make cash payment at one of the designated Axis bank branches

Credit Card – If you choose to pay through your credit card

Demand Draft - If you choose to pay through a demand draft

14) If you choose to make the payment at a later stage, you need to click on the Make Payment button on the top of your screen after logging in with your unique NMAT ID and password.

15) After successful registration, you will get an e-mail containing your NMAT ID and NMAT password. Use this NMAT ID for all future correspondence with NMIMS University. Use this NMAT ID and NMAT password to login and make any modifications to the details in your application form.
