1. For State quota seats in Govt. Medical/ Dental Colleges and 50% seats in Private un-aided Dental Colleges:

(i) Children of Bonafide Himachali/Himachal Govt. Employees and employees of Autonomous Bodies wholly or partially financed by the Himachal Pradesh Govt. and who have passed at least two examinations out of four i.e. Middle, Matric, +1 & +2 or its equivalent from the recognized school(s)/ College(s) situated in the State of Himachal Pradesh only are eligible to apply for this test. However, Children of Defence Personnel/Ex-Servicemen/Employees of Central Govt. including U.T./other State Govts./Employees of Autonomous Organisations/Semi-Govt. Bodies of Central Govt and other State Govts. or Children of Himachal Govt. Employees/Employees of wholly owned H.P. Govt. Undertakings/Autonomous, Bodies who are Bonafide Himachali and living outside the State of H.P. on account of their service are exempted from the condition of passing two examinations from the School(s) situated in the State of H.P. and are also eligible for this test.

(ii)The Bonafide Himachali students who are admitted to Navodaya School(s) situated in Himachal Pradesh, but passed Matric or +2 examinations under the exchange programme from other Navodaya School(s) in the country are also eligible to apply for this test.

2. For Management Quote Seats (only in Private un-aided Dental Colleges): Under this quota, there will be no domicile and schooling conditions, both Himachali and non-Himachali interested candidates can compete in the entrance test subject to fulfillment of minimum educational qualification and age as mentioned.

3. For Children of J&K Migrants: Who possess the minimum qualifying educational qualification and age as given can also compete in this test against the seats reserved for them.

4. For Children of Tibetan Refugees: Who possess the minimum qualifying educational qualification and age as given and duly sponsored by the Tibetan Govt. in Exile can also compete in this test against the seats reserved for them.

5. For NRI Candidates: Who are residing abroad and have passed the qualifying examination (10+2 or its equivalent) from abroad are not required to take the entrance test. They must fulfill the minimum educational qualification and age as given, can also apply on the prescribed application form available in the prospectus direct to the Principal(s) of the concerned Medical/Dental C0llege(s).


(i) Age: The candidate should have already completed or should complete the age of 17 years and must not have completed 25 years of age on 31st December, 2009.

(ii) Educational Qualifications: The candidate should have passed 10+2 or its equivalent examinations of a University/Board by law in India with Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects which shall include a practical test with 50% marks (40% marks for SC/ST/OBC provided the candidate has qualified the subject of English as an elective subject in the above examination.

Note: The candidates who have appeared in 10+2 or its equivalent examination and the result has not been declared can also apply for this test, but the admission will be subject to passing of the said examination with the required percentage at the time of 1st round of counseling.

Post Graduate Diploma In Management

Candidates seeking admission to the PGDM programme shall be required to possess a bachelor’s degree (10+2+3 pattern) in any discipline of a University or equivalent thereto. Reservation for SC, ST, OBC and Physically handicapped candidates will be applicable as per Govt. of India rules. Candidates appearing for the final examination are also eligible to apply, provided they complete it by October 31, 2009. In case candidate fails to establish eligibility by this date, the admission would be cancelled and fees will be forfeited.

Admission Process: Admission to the programme shall be through an admission process of 100 points. A weight of 70% shall be for the performance in IITTM Admission Test. Another 15% points each are for Personal Interview (PI) and Group Discussion (GD) respectively.

Merit for admission to the programme shall be determined by the institute.

A prospective student should appear for IITTM Admission Test on May 24, 2009.

Short-listed students will have to appear for GD and PI during June 19-21, 2009, at any one of the IITTM centres.

Admission Test: Admission test shall be organised at different notified centres on May 24, 2009. The test shall be of two and a half hours duration. Test shall comprise of multiple choice type questions in four sections- Language proficiency, general awareness, numerical ability and reasoning.

The Anna University (Chennai) will conduct the 2009 edition of the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) on May 30 and 31. It is mandatory for students aspiring to join MBA, MCA, ME, MTech, M.Arch and MPlan postgraduate degree courses to appear for the TANCET.

The TANCET will be conducted in various centres in Chennai, Coimbatore, Erode, Karaikudi, Tirunelveli, Vellore, Chidambaram, Salem, Thanjavur, Villupuram, Virudhunagar, Nagercoil, Madurai and Karaikudi, a university press release said. Workshop on terrorism held at Assam University

SILCHAR, March 30 – A one-day regional seminar was organised by the Department of Political Science in association with Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA) and IQAC, Assam University, Silchar recently. Prof Topadhir Bhattacharjee, VC, Assam University presided over the inaugural session and Dr PR Das, IGP, Assam and MK Baruah, former Home Commissioner, Assam participated in the workshop as representatives of IIPA.

In his presidential address, Prof Topadhir Bhattacharjee said that Assam University is proud to have such talents for the workshop. He further said that this workshop would have meaningful contribution from various experts from the field. He further said that the public should come forward to eliminate terrorism from Assam. For this the administration should become move active.

In his speech, Dr PR Das said that if police is given sufficient power with sufficient arms, it is easy to tackle the terrorist problem without the help of the Army. He supported talks with terrorists at the Government level.

MK Baruah in his speech, said that the problem of terrorism has emerged due to the neglect of the State.

Prof Gautam Biswas, Pro- VC, said that in Northeast India, there are lots of troubles. It needs the active role of public administration to tackle the situation.

This is a six-semester (three year) programme constituting three stages. Initially, a candidate is admitted for the one year (2 Semesters) Pre-sea course and on completion of I & II Semesters, a candidate will be awarded Diploma in Nautical Science (DNS).

Medium of Instructions
The medium of instructions for this programme is English.

Programme Duration :
The minimum duration for this programme is Three years. However, a maximum duration of Six years is permissible to complete the programme.

Admission to this programme is offered on the basis of qualifying in a written test. The Entrance Test is conducted twice a year. The candidates seeking admission can fall in two categories namely Sponsored and Non-Sponsored.

Candidates can be sponsored for admission by employing shipping companies/their authorized manning agents registered with the DGS and hence fall under category of Sponsored candidates. The Non-Sponsored candidates are those candidates who do not get sponsorship for their admission in the programme but they later seek sponsorship for their on-board training after obtaining admission in the programme. All candidates (sponsored or non-sponsored) are required to successfully clear the entrance test to become eligible for admission in the programme. Non-sponsored candidates shall be required to attend Counselling session after clearing the written

Examination and no interview for non-sponsored candidates. However, individual shipping companies/employers/manning agents are free to conduct their own written examination and/or interviews to select the candidates for sponsorship but all such sponsored candidates would be required to qualify the written examination before being admitted in the programme.

Educational Qualification:
(1) Pass in 10 + 2 examination from a recognized Board/University with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM), with not less than 55% marks in PCM aggregate.
With Physics as an individual subject in any one of the years of B.Sc., with not less than 50% marks in the final year of B.Sc., from a recognized University provided that the candidate must have passed 10 + 2 examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) from a recognized Board.
B.E./B.Tech or its equivalent degree from I.I.T. or from a college recognized by AICTE/UGC/DEC.

(2) Should have passed with not less than 50% marks in English as a separate subject, at either 10th or 12th standard or in the Degree programme conducted by a recognized Board/University.

Note1: Those appearing in eligibility educational qualification examination are also eligible to apply provided they meet all the eligibility criteria and produce the certificates to that effect.

2: The candidates with three year Diploma from a recognized polytechnic arealso eligible for making application for the entrance test as the three-year polytechnic Diploma is equated with 10+2 examination and accordingly their PCM aggregate in the Diploma programme shall not be less than 55%.

Age Limit - Not more than 25 years
The age limit is relaxable by 2 years in case of female candidates and 5 years for SC/ST candidates.

Physical and Medical Standards:

Medically fit as per the standards set by Merchant Shipping Medical Examination Rules, 2000 as amended from time to time.

IIIT-BH offers M.Tech programme in Computer Science and Engineering and Information Technology.

The M.Tech. programmes are divided into four semesters. The first three semesters will involve

• Edit your application and resubmit if required.

• Generate the application in PDF format and print it.

3. You can verify the receipt of the draft by IIIT, Bhubaneswar in the website as mentioned at
point No.1 above.

4. You can print your admit card to the entrance examination, once your draft has been received
by IIIT, Bhubaneswar. You are required to paste your photograph in the space provided in the admit card and bring the same for the entrance test. (You shall paste the copy of the same photograph already sent along with the copy of the on line application form).

Entrance test:
The entrance test shall be conducted in seven places*: Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Mumbai. The candidates are required to give at least 3 choices of the places for Entrance Test in order of preference. The entrance test will be held during the week (18th -24th May 2009). The exact venue, date & time shall be sent to you by email.

The same information shall also be available to you in the website. Candidates possessing valid GATE (CS/IT) score of more than 75 percentile are exempt from entrance test. However they will have to apply on-line and pay the application fee mentioned in the How to Apply section and appear for the interview. They may at their option appear for entrance test as well. In such case the score of the entrance test shall supersede the GATE score for the purpose of evaluation and the GATE score shall not be considered.

Based on the performance in the entrance test, the interview of the short-listed candidates will be conducted on the same day and may continue for the next day if necessary.

Final Selection:
The final selection shall be based on the candidates’ performance in the following:

• Performance in the Entrance Test/ GATE score (The absolute percentage of marks secured
in the GATE shall be considered).

• Performance in the interview.

• Career Marks.

The choice in order of preference for the different programmes (CSE/IT) shall be exercised by the candidate during the interview.

The selected candidates shall be informed by mail. The same information shall also be available to you in the website.

* The test shall be held in the above said centers subject to minimum number of candidates otherwise the students will be asked to appear the test in the nearest center.

Candidates, who are selected for admission based on the choice of programme exercised by them, must indicate their acceptance of the admission offer and all related conditions by paying the first installment of fees as detailed in the offer of admission, before the date mentioned therein. The classes are expected to begin by August 09. At this time, the students will be given a manual of policies and regulations, which will be binding on them.

In respect of candidates belonging to Schedule Casts, Schedule Tribes or any other categories notified by the Government the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry & Biology taken together in qualifying examination & competitive entrance examination be 40% instead of 50% as stated above.

Provided that a candidate who has appeared in the qualifying examination the result of which has not been declared, he may be provisionally permitted to take up the competitive entrance examination and in case of selection for admission to the BDS course, he shall not be admitted to that course until he fulfils the eligibility criteria as per above regulations.

Application procedure:

A candidate seeking registration to the Uttar Pradesh Common Admission Test – UPCAT-DENTAL is required to send his / her application on the prescribed application form only, appended in the information brochure. A candidate must not fill or submit more than one form for the examination.

The Information Brochure containing application form for registration for entrance examination and admission in B.D.S. Course for the Academic Year 2009-10 will be made available from member colleges as well as from the Oriental Bank of Commerce, Springdale Branch, Bichpuri Road, Pilibhit Bypass Road, Bareilly U.P. Pin 243 006. The addresses and telephone numbers of all the member colleges are mentioned in this brochure.

The application form can be obtained either in person by paying cash of Rs. 1050/- [Rs. One Thousand Fifty only] or by post by sending a crossed bank draft of Rs. 1100/- [Rs. Eleven Hundred Only] drawn in favour of "The Association of Private Medical and Dental Colleges of Uttar Pradesh" payable at Barerilly and requisition for the required application and information brochure shall be addressed to the Oriental Bank of Commerce, Springdale Branch, Bichpuri Road, Pilibhit Bypass Road, Bareilly U.P.
